Freedom

Lyrics

Freedom

Verse 1
I was lost in my shame, held down by the weight
But Your love reached deep, and opened the gate
You broke every chain, You lifted my soul
Now I’m walking in freedom, fully made whole The past had a grip, but You gave me peace
I found my hope when I fell to my knees
No more running, no more fear
You spoke my name and drew me near

Chorus
No chains, no shame, I’m alive and free
Your blood has washed and covered me
No fear, no doubt, I’ve been made new
All of my joy, it comes from You

Verse 2
You hung the stars, called the sun to rise
Still You hear my prayers and know my cries
We chase the world, ignore Your grace
But nothing on earth can take Your place
Salvation’s not earned, it’s a gift of love
Poured out from heaven, sent from above
I sought Your heart, and I found my way
Now I live in Your light every day

Bridge
You’re my peace in the chaos
My joy when I’m low
My strength in the silence
The only love I know

Reflection

Freedom is not the absence of struggle, pain, or memory. Biblical freedom is deeper than circumstances and far more lasting than emotion. It is the spiritual reality of being released from sin’s authority, shame’s voice, and fear’s grip.

Before Christ, we may appear functional on the outside while still being bound on the inside…held captive by guilt, past failures, fear of judgment, or the constant pressure to perform. But the gospel declares something radically different: freedom is not earned, negotiated, or slowly achieved. It is given.

Jesus does not merely loosen chains; He breaks them. He does not merely cover shame; He removes condemnation entirely. Freedom in Christ means we are no longer defined by who we were, what we did, or what was done to us. We are defined by what He has done.

This song reflects the journey from bondage to belonging, from striving to surrender, from fear to peace. True freedom begins when we stop running and finally fall to our knees, trusting that grace is not waiting to punish us, but to restore us.

Closing Scripture & Prayer

2 Corinthians 3:17 – “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

Lord, thank You for the freedom You give through Jesus Christ. Free us from every chain that still tries to speak louder than Your truth…chains of fear, shame, guilt, and self-reliance. Teach us to walk daily in the freedom You have already secured for us. Help us not to return to what You delivered us from, but to live fully in the light of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
