Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heavy heart, seeking Your guidance and strength to forgive someone who has deeply hurt me. Your Word teaches us about the importance of forgiveness, and I am in need of Your grace to embody this divine principle.
In Matthew 6:14-15, Your Son Jesus said, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Understanding this truth, I humbly ask for the ability to release the burden of resentment and extend forgiveness as You have forgiven me.
I acknowledge the struggle within me, and I am reminded of Colossians 3:13, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Lord, grant me the strength to bear with this person and forgive, mirroring Your boundless forgiveness in my own actions.
In Ephesians 4:31-32, it is written, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” I seek Your help to rid my heart of bitterness and anger, replacing them with kindness and compassion.
Lord, I recognize that forgiveness is not only a command but also a pathway to freedom. I trust in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me,” and I lean on Your strength to enable me to forgive.
As I release the pain and choose to forgive, I am reminded of Your promise in Isaiah 43:25, “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.” May I emulate Your divine example and forgive as an act of obedience and love.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
